Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Another day, another comparison, and another argument about who the GOAT is. When Michael Jordan started his career in 1984, there was a certain air around the NBA and people began to recognize that MJ is someone truly special. While many legends showcased their talents since then, nobody earned the same recognition other than LeBron James.

That may be the emotions talking during that time, but the NBA world was left stunned. Many people, including NBA players and legends, reacted to the claim. Even, Michael Jordan once spoke about the GOAT debate and those words stand valid on LeBron’s claim.

Jordan once spoke about the GOAT debate using similar words as his partner in crime for many years Scottie Pippen did. He slammed the claim made by LeBron James about him being the greatest of all time after he won the NBA championship under the most challenging circumstances.

 

“People always debate it, who’s the greatest player of all time. Dumb question! It should be who’s the greatest team of all time. You know there are so many teams to choose from. The 91 Chicago Bulls. Sorry, ShowTime. The 92 Bulls back to back. 93 Bulls, first three, people. 97 Bulls even with the flu [MJ played with a flu]. 98 Bulls no push-off. And my favorite, the 96 Chicago Bulls. 72 wins, tough to beat that. What? You think there’s someone else? Prove it!” MJ said in a video showing off his 6 rings. This was a video for the video game NBA 2k12 promotion.

LeBron and MJ have been the two GOATs in the long history of the NBA. Many players have had the status of the best player for a season or two, but not many players have had an impact as strong and unwavering as those two.
