This isn’t the first time McElhenney and the football star have gone viral recently. In April, the 47-year-old told Kelce he was “incredibly wrong” about the people of Wales, after the 36-year-old referred to them as “posh.”

“When I think of [the] Welsh, I think British people call it ‘posh,'” Kelce said during an episode of the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce.

“I think of these rich, upper class, just beautiful white people. He is the running stereotype of what I would think of with a Welsh person.”

The comment was inspired by Welsh rugby player Louis Rees-Zammit. The 23-year-old is making the transfer to American football next season, joining the Chiefs as a running back.

However, McElhenney corrected Kelce’s assumptions about Welsh people, reaching out to the NFL legend on X, formerly Twitter.

McElhenney co-owns Welsh soccer team Wrexham A.F.C. with pal Ryan Reynolds, with their experience managing the “struggling” club documented for the Disney Plus docuseries Welcome to Wrexham. The Emmy winner is also a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce spent 13 years with the team before announcing his retirement in March.

Kelce has since taken back his remarks about Welsh people, telling his 594,000 X followers: “I was very incorrect on this.”

“Based on further assessment since these incorrect statements, not sure why I had these preconceptions in my mind,” he wrote on April 19. “I have found that the Welsh seem exactly like my kind of people. Happy to be incredibly wrong.”

“Yes, incredibly wrong,” McElhenney replied. “I should show you around someday. I might know a few people.”

Although McElhenney didn’t specify where the photo with Kelce was taken, it looks like the pair finally got together. Fans couldn’t get enough of the selfie.

“Just a bunch of legends!” commented @OfficialMrDude.

“Some of my favorite people,” said Melissa Morris.

“Love this,” wrote Marianne.”Planning the Live From Wrexham@newheightshow?” asked @DMandzz, while Krouvalis called the picture “epic.”
