Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles offensive line man will likely be set for a place in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in the coming years.
However, when it comes to geography and his ideas about people from outside of the good old USA, it would appear as though Kelce might need some work.
Speaking to his brother Travis (current Kansas City Chiefs star tightend), the elder Kelce was referencing his brother’s new Chiefs teammate, former Wales star Louis Rees-Zammit.
Focusing in on Rees-Zammit, Kelce said, “He is the running stereotype of what I would think of with a Welsh person.”
In Kelce’s defence he did question himself midway thorough the conversation saying, “I don’t know if that’s an accurate stereotype but that’s certainly what I think of and he’s helping continue that trend in my mind.”
Going on to explain his excitement surrounding the code-hopping LRZ, the former Eagle said he was hoping the former Wales star could make his mark on the NFL.
“I’m excited to see what this guy does. I know it’s gonna be a learning curve, but I hope this guy takes the world by f****** storm. It will be electric.
“With a smile like that, this guy… if he works out, he’s gonna be the most marketable player of all time.”
As Kelce’s comments began to do the rounds, he was quickly corrected and showed his class in backing down from his previous statements, saying,”Yeah, I’ve come to understand, I was very incorrect on this.
“Based on further assessment of these incorrect statements, I am not sure why I had these preconceptions in my mind, but I have found that the Welsh seem exactly like my kind of people. Happy to be incredibly wrong.”
