After beating the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers finally found their rhythm in the regular season. The win meant a lot for the City of Angels as now they are on a two-game win streak and broke the four-game win streak the Big Friendly. Since the game was on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there were a lot of tributes, games, and performances lined up for the audience.
Out of those performances, the Akron Hammers’s daughter Zhuri, was also part of one with the Compton Kids Club. A reporter asked James about how he felt about the performance in the post-match interview. Answering that, he said, “The performance was amazing. They set the mood from the beginning, I saw my daughter and every single one of those black girls walking, singing, and being proud of what they was doing.”
He further added about the importance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and said that acknowledgment and respect should be given where it is due and the performance of the Compton Kids Club was worth seeing. He also added saying, “I know I am usually with my team or sitting across the free-throw line, but they made me turn around and I watched them the whole time. So it was pretty cool to have them tonight.” However, not only the kids, but even the Los Angeles Lakers deserve acknowledgment and respect after their brilliant display of skills against the 405.
The Lakers are finally looking like a 17x NBA champion franchise
With a stellar performance by not only their dynamic duo but their entire squad, the City of Angels grabbed a 112-105 victory over OKC. On half of the dynamic duo, the L-Train was just coming back from an injury and showed how well he has recovered by putting up 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Anthony Davis, the other half of the duo showed his dominance by achieving a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds.
Not only them but even D’Angelo Russell contributed to the team with 14 points and 7 assists, and the rising star of the Lakers, Austin Reaves put up 15 points and 7 assists which resulted in a high-assist game for the Lakers. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander battled through a knee injury and even then managed to score 24 points for the Thunder, but the Lakers’ effective game plan restricted their offensive production.
The Lakers showed their resilience, endurance, and energy despite the absence of the 24-year-old forward Cam Reddish. This victory was a tribute to the Lakers’ defensive approach, which they hope to sustain in order to gain more victories in their future games.
