The Golden State Warriors delivered a scorching performance from beyond the arc on Tuesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 134-120 and etching their name in NBA history along the way.
The Warriors torched the nets, sinking a staggering 63.4% of their three-point attempts (26 of 41). This remarkable feat marks the highest single-game percentage for any team launching at least 40 threes, according to ESPN Stats and Info relayed by Kendra Andrews.
Golden State also stands alone in NBA history, becoming the first team to knock down at least 25 three-pointers while maintaining a shooting percentage above 60%.
Steph Curry led the charge with a team-high six three-pointers, followed closely by Klay Thompson and Draymond Green with five each. Andrew Wiggins and Brandin Podziemski chipped in three triples apiece, while Gary Payton II added two. Rounding out the long-range attack were Chris Paul and Jonathan Kuminga with one three-pointer each.
Beyond their offensive fireworks, the Warriors displayed a defensive prowess rarely seen this season. Led by Andrew Wiggins’ three rejections, the team swatted away a total of 12 shots, making them the first NBA team ever to record both at least 10 blocks and 25 made three-pointers in a single game.
This crucial victory propels the Warriors (44-35) to within half a game of the Lakers (45-35) for the coveted No. 9 seed in the Western Conference play-in tournament. They also sit just one game behind the Sacramento Kings (45-34) for the No. 8 seed.
The Warriors are undoubtedly peaking at the perfect time, and their historically hot shooting night from three-point range has fueled a critical win that tightens the race for the play-in spots.
