Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo has been voted to the All-NBA first team, and justifiably so, after averaging 30.4 points on a career-best 61.1 percent shooting, 11.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists (also a career-high figure), 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game.
The Bucks star is deserving of this well-deserved award because he has now joined a select club of players who have been selected to an All-NBA team at least eight times. Antetokounmpo’s career is far from ended.
On Wednesday night, the NBA revealed the rosters of the three All-NBA teams. Not unexpectedly, Antetokounmpo was on the first team, which also included Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jayson Tatum, and Luka Doncic.
Quite the initial quintet, huh?
The Bucks organization was quick to congratulate their cornerstone superstar via X, formerly Twitter. Naturally, the Milwaukee faithful flocked to the post with their own messages of praise for the former back-to-back NBA Most Valuable Player:
One person said: “Best player in the league”
The second fan expressed: “Don’t let them try to erase Giannis legacy!”
The third continues: “Miss watching him play. Next season is ours!”
.
There are a ton more sources like that one as well.
For being among the best to ever do it, congratulations are in due. As one of the tweets above mentioned, many fans consider Antetokounmpo to be the undisputed GOAT.
The NBA had better get ready for the retaliation tour since he will return the next season.
But Damian Lillard wasn’t even considered for any of the three teams that made the All-NBA team. Despite being selected as an All-Star for the eighth time in his career this past season, the 33-year-old received not even one vote for the All-NBA team.
The NBA published the final voting total along with the announcement of the three teams that made the All-NBA team roster for 2023–2024. A number of celebrities, including Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, Jaylen Brown, Rudy Gobert, and Victor Wembanyama, were among those who were not selected for the All-NBA team.
However, as it turned out, not a single voter thought that Lillard should have been included in the All-NBA teams.
It’s important to remember that Lillard has appeared on the All-NBA team for five of the previous six seasons. The only season he was not awarded the accolade was 2021–22, when a serious injury limited his playing time for the Portland Trail Blazers to just 29 games.
The fact that Lillard received zero attention this year tells you a lot about the kind of season he had in his first campaign in Milwaukee, at least according to the electorate.
