LeBron James Sends A Message On His Offseason Recovery Process. ‎

LeBron James shares a glimpse at his rigorous offseason routine.

With 39-year-old LeBron James in the middle of a long offseason, he’s making it a point to heal his body and allow it to recover from the grind of the regular season. On Instagram, he gave some fans a glimpse into the process and showed off a scene with his knees and ankles heavily wrapped.

“I don’t play about my recovery process,” wrote James on Instagram.

In the reel, the reality of LeBron’s routine is made more obvious to the fans. Besides the support on his knees and ankles, you can see a huge water jug off to the side, suggesting that he’s a frequent and heavy water drinker (no surprise). In the bottom half of the frame, he uses another caption to compare the treatment of his body to the regular maintenance and upkeep of a first car.

“Treat your body like you treat/ed the first car you got,” James wrote.

The sneakers he’s wearing are part of a collaboration between Nike and Hyperice — a company that makes specialty products designed to help athletes recover using “contrast therapy.” The fancy kicks alternate between hot and cold settings as they massage the feet and ankles to provide some general relief.

“Just got back home from training and slipped into these babies right away,” wrote the Lakers star in his story.

The fact that the King is already training this early in the summer is not surprising but it does show his dedication and commitment to his craft. More than any other NBA superstar, LeBron devotes millions of dollars and endless hours of his time just to take care of his body and it’s through tactics like these that he can stay fresh on the court after all these years.

Of course, as the champion of longevity and an expert at prolonged greatness, LeBron (a 4x NBA champion) is uniquely qualified to speak on how athletes should maintain their bodies. Like most people do with their first ride, LeBron takes meticulous care of himself and uses various methods to help his joints, muscles, and tendons recover after so much wear and tear during the season.

While most players lack the discipline and will to go through these efforts every single summer, the Lakers forward has yet to take a year off and I think these treatments are key to how he’s managed to stay at the top for over 20 years and counting.

During the 2023-24 season, his 21st in the NBA, LeBron looked just as potent as ever with averages of 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game on 54% shooting. While there were some whispers about a potential retirement this summer, LeBron is believed to be on pace to play for at least two more years.

But whether it’s two years or five years, there’s no reason to think that the 6’9″ forward out of Akron, Ohio will be slowing down anytime soon. He knows what it takes to keep up with his peers and he’s already working to keep himself in top condition for the next season, which could be one of his last.
