Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson paid tribute to his Filipino heritage once again by debuting a pair of custom shoes inspired by the Philippines. The shoes, designed by Filipino artist Maui Lucero, feature Clarkson donning a Gilas Pilipinas jersey.
Clarkson’s bespoke Nike Zoom Freak 2 was designed by Filipino artist Maui Lucero to honor the Philippine national team and features the words “Laban Pilipinas” across the swoosh.
Clarkson once played for Gilas Pilipinas in the 2018 Asian Games, when the Philippines finished higher than in any of the previous 16 quadrennial competitions.
Clarkson, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, is featured in the other pair while wearing the uniform of the Utah Jazz.
“Puso!” For the post’s caption, Clarkson penned.
Lucero, also known as thebrocustom on Instagram, has collaborated with a number of professional Filipino basketball players, most notably those in the PBA.
Beau Belga of Rain or Shine, Terrence Romeo of San Miguel, Poy Erram of TNT, Calvin Abueva and Mark Barroca of Magnolia, and Jericho Cruz of NLEX are just a few of the players he made unique shoes for.Lucero expressed gratitude to Belga, Norwood, and Nambatac of Rain or Shine for helping him meet the Clarkson family.
Rookie makes two huge plays in final minute to deliver Golden State Warriors victory

Jackson-Davis, another young player who helped define the Warriors’ victory, scored a putback layup with 32 seconds remaining. After Steve Kerr challenged the initial call of a foul on Jackson-Davis, the 23-year-old responded by blocking a layup attempt by fellow rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino on the subsequent play.
Golden State’s lead grew to three after a pair of clutch free throws from Jonathan Kuminga; Los Angeles missed its final three attempts at forcing OT.
The Golden State Warriors’ reserves came through with another victory to start the preseason. It didn’t take three quarters against a Laker club featuring LeBron James and Austin Reaves for Warrior supporters to be reminded that their team still has a long way to go defensively and cut down on turnovers.
The Warriors took an early 13-6 lead, but the Lakers responded with 37 points in the first quarter to grab a five-point advantage. They scored 70 points by halftime, shooting 54.6% from the field and 10 of 18 (55.6%) from beyond the arc.
Golden State scored 63 points in the first half, led by 12 points from Stephen Curry and 11 points from Jonathan Kuminga. Trailing by seven points entering the third quarter, the Warriors swiftly closed the gap with a 10-3 run. When the starting Warriors tried to get things going, their defense slacked off and their turnover problems got worse. Golden State committed 17 turnovers by the conclusion of the third quarter, and even experienced point guard Chris Paul couldn’t avoid them in his 19 minutes of play.
The Warrior bench, as shown in their season opener last Saturday, is capable of dominating games against starting lineups. Brandin Podziemski, their other rookie, displayed composure and even more spectacular play by helping to set the tempo with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists, leading the team in scoring.
The 19th overall selection finished the first three quarters with nine assists, keying a 15-5 surge by Golden State that knotted the game at 100. In the fourth quarter, both teams’ substitutes got some playing time, but the Warriors’ reserves, led by Kuminga’s nine points and Moses Moody’s eight points and the late heroics of Jackson-Davis, came out on top.

Even though Paul, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins played a combined 20 minutes, they only managed 23 points on 9-27 shooting, with Curry leading the starters with 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists in just 20 minutes.
