Jayson Tatum Sees Kristaps Porziņģis as ‘Missing Piece,’ Compares Him to Pau Gasol
In a recent interview with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum expressed his belief that Kristaps Porziņģis is the “missing piece” for the team. Tatum drew a comparison to the impact Pau Gasol had on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, stating that Porziņģis feels like a crucial addition to Boston’s championship aspirations.
Tatum highlighted the dynamic partnership between Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, emphasizing the importance of having such a complementary player on the team. Porziņģis, acquired by the Celtics from the Washington Wizards, has quickly made his presence felt in his first season with the team.
In 34 games, he is averaging 19.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting efficiently from the field and beyond the arc.
With the addition of Porziņģis, the Celtics currently lead the Eastern Conference with a league-best record of 37-11, positioning themselves as strong contenders for an NBA championship. The team’s success, as seen by Tatum, is attributed to Porziņģis filling a vital role within the lineup.
