The Boston Celtics showcased their dominance as they cruised to a resounding 131-91 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at TD Garden on Sunday.
Despite the Grizzlies’ limited roster due to injuries, they showed resilience with standout performances from Scotty Pippen Jr. and GG Jackson II. Pippen Jr. delivered a career-high 19 points off the bench, while Jackson II impressed in his first career start, contributing 18 points and a career-best seven rebounds.
Additionally, David Roddy added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Jacob Gilyard chipped in 13 points. Tosan Evbuomwan made his presence felt on the boards, snatching a game-high 12 rebounds off the bench for the Grizzlies.
On the Celtics’ side, Jayson Tatum led the charge with a stellar performance, registering 34 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Kristaps Porzingis made significant contributions with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Derrick White added 15 points to the scoreboard.
Despite a spirited effort from the shorthanded Grizzlies, who managed to cut an early Celtics lead, Boston surged ahead with a commanding performance. The Celtics closed the first half with a dominant 24-6 run, establishing a commanding 70-50 lead at halftime. Maintaining their momentum throughout the game, the Celtics secured their largest lead of the game, ultimately sealing a convincing victory.
With this win, the Celtics improve their record to 38-12, showcasing their strength as a formidable force in the league. On the other hand, the Grizzlies, despite their valiant effort, fall to 18-32, highlighting the challenges they face amidst injuries to key players.
