A wide receiver who recently retired midseason as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles said this week he is open to the idea of joining the Kansas City Chiefs this season as they compete for a Super Bowl run this winter.

The Chiefs have lost three of their previous four games and two in a row. Much of the reason for the Chiefs’ five losses this season has been their wide receiver play. They lead the league in dropped passes.

But it’s not just about dropping passes. They’re making mental mistakes, too. Kadarius Toney’s offsides penalty on the Chiefs’ final drive in Week 14 wiped out a go-ahead touchdown with about a minute remaining. The Bills would end up winning after the penalty.

Frankly, the Chiefs don’t have a chance at repeating a Super Bowl this season with their roster of wide receivers. They will need to look for outside help if they want to get past the Baltimore Ravens or Miami Dolphins this January.

Former Eagles wide receiver Desean Jackson was a guest on Up & Adams Monday. Host Kay Adams asked Jackson if he’d be willing to unretire to join the Chiefs this season. Jackson answered in the affirmative.

“A lot of my family has been telling me, ‘they need you,’” Jackson said. “‘Like well, if they need me coach Reid,” I talk to coach Reid pretty often.”

Jackson said he isn’t sure if the Chiefs would add him, as the NFL has become more of a young-person sport. However, Jackson said he thinks he could still play in the league.

I don’t know, I’m available, I can still play,” Jackson said.

Jackson made his wishes known to Reid and the Chiefs. We’ll see if the Chiefs look to add a former star player like Jackson to the roster for the postseason.
