Kansas City Chiefs, Xavier Worthy

Even though the Kansas City Chiefs won the most recent Super Bowl, the team could still use some talent in the wide receiver position. Fortunately, that can be done if the team picks the right guy in the upcoming NFL Draft.

After entering the previous season as defending champions, the Chiefs soon made their dominance felt in the NFL. In doing so, Kansas City secured a playoff spot for the 11th consecutive year by placing first in the AFC West division with an 11-6 record.

In the playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs dismantled the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens in quick succession. After the air had cleared, the Patrick Mahomes-led roster found itself facing the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

With a score of 25-22, the Chiefs were able to defeat San Francisco in a thrilling overtime match. But even though their offense and defense were top-notch, the team needed a boost when it came to the wide receiver position. As it stands, there’s a chance for Kansas City to address that need via the NFL Draft.

Kansas City Chiefs Predicted To Take Xavier Worthy In NFL Draft Prediction

Kansas City Chiefs, Xavier WorthyTexas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy (1) sits in the end zone after the final whistle in the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff semi-finals at the Ceasars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jan. 1, 2024. The Huskies won the game 37-31, knocking the Longhorns out of National Championship contention.
If the Chiefs plan to reinforce their lineup of wide receivers, the NFL Draft would be one way of doing so. Mel Kiper Jr. explains more in his article for ESPN:

“The Chiefs had major issues at receiver last season — their pass-catchers led the league in drops (38). The word I’ve used to describe Worthy is electrifying, because he has amazing movement skills in space.

He can score from any spot on the field. He had 26 receiving touchdowns over three seasons at Texas. The one problem with this fit is that Worthy had his share of drops in 2022. He cut those in half last season (from 10 to 5). Most of those were concentration drops,” Kiper wrote.

Even with just the 32nd pick in the draft, the Chiefs can still get some value by selecting Worthy. If fully realized, his upside will definitely work well for Kansas City in the coming season.
