Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the NFL right now, and there really isn’t any question about it. Mahomes took over the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback gig in 2018 and hasn’t looked back, as he’s already racked up two MVP awards and three Super Bowl championships in a dominant six-season stretch of action.

By now, everyone is pretty familiar with Mahomes and his family, but it turns out, we didn’t have the full picture this entire time. Mahomes has a half-brother by the name of Graham Walker who is an All-American wide receiver in college, and it just so turns out that he could be charting his own course to the NFL, just like Mahomes once did.

Mahomes was raised by his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., and mother, Randi Martin, but the pair divorced when he was young. The two also had another son, Jackson, who is Patrick’s younger brother. After their divorce, though, Mahomes Sr. went on to have two more children, a son Graham and a daughter Zoe. That makes them Mahomes’ half-siblings.

It wasn’t exactly like this information was being hidden, but nobody really knew that Walker was a college football prospect who was somehow related to Mahomes. As Mahomes Sr. said, he’s tried to stay out of the spotlight and make his own path. But now, he’s going to be linked to the top quarterback in the league as he tries to boost his draft stock.

Walker spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career playing for Brown, and he put up some decent numbers in 2023 for the Bears (44 REC, 515 YDS, 6 TD). Walker will be transferring to Rice University in an effort to further improve his chances of getting drafted in the NFL, and he will have a decent amount of attention surrounding him now that this information is widely known.

While transferring should help him, the tie to Mahomes is obviously going to be the most notable thing that he has working in his favor. As noted above, Mahomes is the best player in the league right now, so even if a relatively unknown wide receiver has even the slightest tie to him, that’s going to catch the attention of all 32 teams.

This obviously isn’t going to make Walker a guaranteed NFL superstar, but as a college player who is hoping to one day make it to the league, you will take any sort of momentum you can get, and well, this is certainly momentum, albeit in a rather unexpected way. Now that Walker is on everyone’s radar for this rather interesting reason, he will surely have a lot more eyes watching him as he attempts to put together a strong 2024 campaign with Rice.
