Lakers Injury Update: Anthony Davis expected to play, LeBron James uncertain for Grizzlies game

LeBron James (left ankle peroneal tendinopathy) is classified as doubtful and Anthony Davis (left eye contusion) as probable for the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.

 

Following his absence from the previous game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of flu-like symptoms, LeBron suit up for the Lakers on Tuesday night against the Warriors. Although Davis was able to recover sufficiently to participate and perform admirably against the Warriors, the Lakers were unable to overcome Davis’ absence in the end.

 

After taking an elbow to the face during the game against the Timberwolves, Davis missed the rest of the game, aggravating an existing eye ailment. Then, with a headache and nausea, he would miss Tuesday’s game against the Warriors, but he was not placed in the concussion protocol.

 

The Lakers, who are officially guaranteed a spot in the Play-In Tournament, need to win these final two games of the season. Still, they might still elevate their standing and find themselves in a better position with two victories to close the season and some assistance from other teams in the league.

 

Even though the Grizzlies are among the poorest teams in the Western Conference, the Lakers cannot afford to underestimate them since they play a very tough game every night. Above all, though, they just need their stars to be healthy and on the floor. Prior to these previous few games in which one or both of them were out, the Lakers were playing their best ball of the season and have demonstrated that they can compete with any team in the league when Davis and James are on the court.

 

The most important thing for the Lakers is to have both players on the court and to get the team back on track before the Play-In Tournament, and ideally that process will start on Friday night.
