LeBron James’ ankle struggles continue to sideline him as the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night. The superstar’s absence comes as no surprise following his limited participation in the All-Star Game due to left ankle peroneal tendinopathy.

Despite speculation about his availability, James remained non-committal about his return, citing the ongoing recovery process. Unfortunately for the Lakers, Thursday’s game against the Warriors marked another instance of LeBron being sidelined with the same ankle issue.

Peroneal tendinosis, characterized by swollen tendons on the outside of the ankle, typically stems from overuse. While rest serves as the primary treatment, James’ brief appearance in the All-Star Game didn’t provide significant stress on the injury.

Compounding the Lakers’ woes, center Christian Wood is also sidelined with a left knee effusion, a condition involving fluid buildup. Wood’s absence, along with Jarred Vanderbilt nursing a mid-foot sprain, leaves the Lakers short-handed in their upcoming matchups against the Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

With both teams vying to climb the standings and escape the play-in tournament fray, the absence of key players adds another layer of challenge for the Lakers.
