Can the Kansas City Chiefs three-peat?

In ESPN’s latest NFL free agency projections, the Kansas City Chiefs could be looking to replenish their defensive backfield.

Former All-Pro cornerback, Xavien Howard was recently released by the Miami Dolphins,

which could be just what the doctor ordered for the defending back-to-back champions, who still have to deal with the impending extension or trade of star cornerback, L’Jarius Sneed.

“I keep coming back to the Chiefs, who typically prefer younger cornerbacks but have a habit of signing overlooked playmakers in that spot. Howard’s ability to hold up in man coverage and create takeaways are skills that should appeal to them. This is less of a fit if L’Jarius Sneed comes back for 2024, but if the Chiefs trade their franchise-tagged cornerback, Howard could be one of the additions general manager Brett Veach makes to replace his top coverage guy from last season.”

Kansas City Chiefs Continued Their Dynasty in 2023

Fresh-off their 2022 Super Bowl Championship season, the Kansas City Chiefs were locked and loaded for another title surge in 2023. However, everything didn’t go as planned to kick-off their campaign this past season. Patrick Mahomes didn’t have his usual offensive weaponry and his one constant, Travis Kelce had a riddled injury start to the season. This time, the defense stepped up and for the first-time in his career, Mahomes and the offense just had to be good enough in order to win it all. Mahomes and the offense did just that while the defense continued to dominate, which led to a second-straight season ending with Andy Reid’s squad lifting the coveted Lombardi Trophy.
