Jason Kelce officially retired in March after 13 NFL seasons, but he can’t seem to stay away from the Philadelphia Eagles’ NovaCare Complex.
“Kelce has been in the building almost every single day,” Eagles kicker Jake Elliott recently said during a recent appearance on NFL Network.
Could Kelce be making a comeback? Well, no, not after he signed a deal with ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown.”
The Eagles’ longtime center appeared on the “Takeoff with John Clark” podcast where he revealed that he just wants to get a free workout in, but being at the facility also helps him stay involved with what’s going on.

“I mean, part of it is just getting a free lift down at NovaCare [Complex],” Kelce said. “I’ve gotten accustomed to going down there. I love going down there. It keeps me involved with it, whether it’s being around the guys, being around the coaches, [keeping] my mind in the game. What teams are doing to try and prepare for this coming season. The game is always evolving and I think in order to stay knowledgeable about it you have to stay involved. For me, I kinda get a two-fer. I get to be able to work out and poke my head around a little bit.”
Kelce Ready to Help Eagles Any Way He Can
While Kelce has zero plans to unretire or even coach, he says he’ll make himself available to help his former teammates and the rookies.
“I’m here to help in any way I can with all these guys,” Kelce said. “I can also offer anyone coming into Philadelphia for the first time, my thoughts on the city, where to be at, wherever your vibes are. I can help shed light on that and what it’s like to play in Philadelphia. I’m gonna try to help anybody, coaches, players, any way I can.”
The Eagles haven’t announced it yet, but they’ve made it pretty clear that Cam Jurgens will take Kelce’s place as the new starting center.
Philly also drafted offensive lineman Dylan McMahon in the sixth round this year, and Kelce has already given the rookie his personal phone number for any questions he might have.
However, McMahon plans to use Kelce’s number sparingly.
“I don’t wanna bug him,” he told reporters during rookie minicamp. “I’d do it every day if I could but he’s got his own stuff going around. Luckily, he gave me his number so if I ever have a question or anything I might just hit him up. If he doesn’t reply, because I know he has a lot of stuff going on, but hopefully he will eventually. But as much as I can without bugging him for sure.”
It’s nice to see Kelce is ready to help an Eagles team that their two biggest veteran leaders in the locker room this offseason in himself and Fletcher Cox.
